My Review: Scooby-Doo! Live Musical Mysteries at The Beacon Theatre in NYC on February 24, 2013
|
|
The excitement started as we were walking up to The Beacon Theatre. There were people outside on the sidewalk selling Scooby-Doo posters and yelling "Scooby-Doo" to get people's attention. There is nothing like walking around the corner and seeing Scooby-Doo stuff everywhere! The only thing missing was Scooby himself!
We entered the theatre and were directed where to go. It was a beautiful theatre with amazing paintings, architecture and statues. The kids had fun playing I spy as we waiting for the show to start. All that was on stage was "Scooby-Doo! Live" in lights.
About 5:05pm, the lights turned out and the show began. They opened the show singing the Scooby-Doo! Where Are You! theme song. At one point, they even got the audience to sing it with them. As the show continued, they found clues and worked on solving the mystery, as you would expect Scooby and the gang to do. There was singing and dancing, which wasn't bad because it was a live show. Scooby as a musical didn't translate well when they made Scooby-Doo! Music of the Vampire, but the stage show was quite entertaining. It was funny when Scooby jumped into Shaggy's arms and the other references they put into the show.
I was worried about how the show would be since I had seen some bad reviews of it and I knew some people that took their kids to see it and, though the kids liked it, my friends did not. The lady in front of us fell asleep in her seat, so I'm not sure that she liked it either. The only part of the show that bothered me was the sound the ghost made. That sound went through me kind of like nails on a chalkboard, but not quite that bad. It was a rough noise to hear, but I was happy that after they unmasked the ghost, he only made the noise one more time and then it stopped.
If you go to the show and you are expecting it to be anything more than a kids show, you may be disappointed. However, if you are Scooby Addict like me, you will appreciate the show for what it is and be very happy you got to see it!!

Kellogg Makes New Scooby-Doo Cereal
|
|
On August 27, 2002, Kellogg introduced Cinnamon Marshmallow Scooby-Doo cereal. In their press release, they described it as "Now available at supermarket and grocery stores nationwide, new Kellogg's Cinnamon Marshmallow Scooby-Doo Cereal brings the fun of Scooby-Doo and all the gang, including Fred, Daphne, Velma and Shaggy, to breakfast tables nationwide. Fortified with 12 vitamins and minerals, the cereal features crispy, sweetened cinnamon-flavored multi-grain bone-shaped cereal with marshmallow bits shaped like Shaggy, the Mystery Machine and the ghost. The cereal also includes fun Scooby-Doo games on the back of the box."
The new cereal is now being made with bone-shaped pieces with a vanilla flavor instead of the round pieces in the original cereal.

Mystery Machine Tour at Crayola in Easton, PA
|
|
We got the chance to go to The Crayola Experience in Easton, PA today to see The Mystery Machine Tour. It was a pretty kewl way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
When we got there, we got in line to go into the trailer. The trailer was decorated with all the gang members and the colors of the Mystery Machine. Inside the trailer you got to solve the mystery!
When we left the trailer, we realized we didn't get the book to write the clues in, so we got them and luckily took pictures of the clues so we solved the mystery. For solving the mystery, we got some Scooby figures.
There were a few other activities there, like coloring sheets, and a huge coloring sheet that we weren't sure what it was for.
The best part was that Scooby showed up and we got to get our picture with him!
We had a great time! You can view some of my pictures on Facebook.
For more info and tour dates visit the Mystery Machine Tour website.

2012 McDonald's Happy Meals Come in Scooby Pails!
|
|
McDonald's has released their 2012 Halloween Pails, and lucky for us, Scooby is on them!! There are 3 pails available and they come with your Happy Meal order. Each pail also comes with a sticker sheet so you can decorate the pail even more.
Unlucky for my kids, I don't eat fast food, so they don't get to either unless someone else takes them, but for Scooby pails, we'll be heading to McDonald's this week. I can't pass up the Scooby Halloween pails!
Here is the McDonald's commercial for the pails.
