New Animated Scooby-Doo Movie Coming in September 2018!
|
|
A new animated Scooby-Doo movie is heading to the big screen! Warner Animation is hoping to bring other Hanna-Barbera characters to the big screen as well, starting with Scooby.
Tony Cervone will direct the Scooby movie, which was written by Matt Lieberman (known for “Dr. Dolittle: Tail to the Chief,” “Short Circuit” reboot.) Charles Roven and Richard Suckle will produce it. They produced the live action Scooby movies from the early 2000s. Dan Povenmire, creator of Phineas & Ferb, will be creatively involved in the film.
I am pretty sure this is the movie we had heard about a year or so ago, and it has finally started moving forward! Scooby on the big screen will be really nice to see, especially in animated form!
The new animated film is set to be released on Sept. 21, 2018. I'm happy to see they chose a September release date, since Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! first aired in September of 1969. It will be a great way to celebrate Scooby's 49th birthday! I wonder if Warner Bros. has something in the works for his 50th!!

Scooby-Doo LEGO Sets Now Available!
|
|
This is the day I have been waiting for since I was a kid! Scooby-Doo LEGO sets were released today! I have been saying for years that the LEGO Company should make official Scooby-Doo LEGO sets, and they finally have!
There are 5 sets that are available:- Haunted Lighthouse
- Mystery Mansion
- The Mystery Machine
- Mystery Plane Adventures
- Mummy Museum Mystery
The sets range in price (on the LEGO.com site anyway) from $14.99 to $89.99. As of this evening - 7:45pm EST - all but 1 of the sets is sold out! That's great news for us Scooby-Doo fans! That means there is a demand for the sets and in my opinion, they are long over due for making these sets. It's great to see more Scooby-Doo merchandise, especially from LEGO!
For more information on the sets, go to LEGO.com. You can also try retail stores such as Target, Walmart and Toys R'Us.

Velma Will Have a New Voice for Be Cool Scooby-Doo!
|
|
According to Zac Moncrief (@zacmoncrief), Kate Micucci (@katemicucci) will voice Velma in the new series Be Cool Scooby-Doo! coming this fall (hopefully) on Cartoon Network.
So where does that leave Mindy Cohn (@MindyCohn)? No worries! She will still be the voice of Velma for DVD's and video games! Mindy posted on Twitter: "gratefully gang, i get to still voice Velma for all DVDs/games so welcome @katemicucci & know there's room to share!" Now that is a great team player!
I know I'll miss Mindy as the voice of Velma for the new series, but it's good to see someone from my own town will be voicing Velma. I'm excited to see what this new series has to offer! So far, I'm thrilled that the writers of Phineas & Ferb will be writing the new series! I'm also happy to see Frank Welker will continue to voice Scooby and Fred, Grey Griffin will voice Daphne, and Matthew Lillard will voice Shaggy. Now I just hope the series airs in the next couple of months. I'm hoping for September! Only time will tell...

Review: Scooby-Doo! Super Race Set
|
|
I got this Scooby-Doo! Super Race Set as a gift last year. I was so excited about it! We saw it when we were on vacation for $129 at a little shop and I wanted to buy it, but didn't want to spend that much money on it. My husband and kids ended up buying it for me. I'm not sure why it took me so long to open it and put the track together.
My 4 year old nephew was over yesterday for my son's birthday party and I thought he would really enjoy playing with the SD Race Set. It wasn't easy to put the track together. I was worried I was going to break the pieces. It took some effort to snap the track pieces together. We made the figure 8 track (there are 2 other track shapes you can make.) The pieces that go along the edges of the track were not easy to snap on and keep on. The stands that hold up the track don't attach to the track, the track rests on them, which makes it easy to fall, especially if you accidentally bump into the track or pull on the controllers too hard.
It took us about 10 minutes to get the track all set up and ready to go. We plugged the controllers in and set the cars on the track. I think I was just as excited, if not more, than my nephew to get the cars going around the track. The Mystery Machine and the Monster Hearse were ready to go! We pushed the buttons on the controllers, the cars headlights lit up and the cars went flying so fast, they flew off the track. The plastic rail pieces didn't help the cars to stay on the track, they actually helped the cars fly further off the track and onto the floor as they acted like a ramp. It took some time to get the hang of using the controller so the cars didn't fly off the track. Once we finally got the hang of it, the Mystery machine car stopped working. It no longer goes around the track when you press the button. Sometimes the lights come on, but for the most part, it just sits there.
The Scooby-Doo! Super Race Set held up for about 15 minutes of use before breaking. I was really disappointed that it was so poorly made. I definitely expected better quality!
