Department of Health say Scooby-Doo is the healthiest kids cartoon!
It features a cowardly Great Dane with an insatiable appetite for snacks and giant sandwiches, who is driven around in a gas-guzzling van.

But according to a survey published by the Department of Health, Scooby Doo is the healthiest of all children's television programmes.

Stars of the long-running television series also took half of the places in a list of the most active individual characters, ahead of energetic animals such as Tom and Jerry and Wile E Coyote.

Consultants drew up the league tables by watching 200 hours of children’s television, featuring the 20 most popular programmes, and noted how many times physical activity was shown.

“Each character was rated on their activity levels and received marks for good behaviours such as walking short journeys and playing sport,” according to the Department of Health.

Because much of the action in the cartoon shows Scooby and his gang running away from monsters, they topped the list.

However officials at the health ministry were at pains to insist they were not holding up Scooby Doo, famed for his love of Scooby Snax, as a healthy role model.

They say the survey was just a “fun talking point” released alongside a new partnership between their public health campaign, Change4Life, and a wholesome programme called LazyTown.

In the show, fruit and vegetables are known as “Sports Candy” while the acrobatic main character is called Sportacus and encourages children to play outside.

Under the £75,000 initiative, 3,600 Sure Start children’s centres will be sent LazyTown-branded activity packs including recipe ideas and a sticker chart.

Anne Milton, the Public Health Minister, said: “Eating well and being active is crucial, especially at an early age.

“Sportacus is a great role model for children and exactly what we need to get young children and their parents being healthy and being active.”

Happy 42nd Birthday, Scooby-Doo!
Wow! I cannot believe it has been 42 years since Scooby debuted on TV! What I can't believe more is that I didn't even realize it was September 13th, Scooby's Birthday! Please forgive me, Scoob!

I want to send out a warm Happy Birthday to Scooby-Doo! Without that show, this website would never have existed! It has been 2 years since Scooby's 40th birthday, when I made a cake and wore my Scooby costume so we could celebrate. The picture is of the Scooby cake I made. We won't really be celebrating much today because we have so much going on already. Maybe I'll do the cake and costume again for his 50th!

Nick and More! Head-2-Head Awards 2011 results
I had no idea these awards even existed! I was on Twitter today and saw that @nickandmore had posted the winners. So I thought to myself "how kewl would it be if Scooby won for something. Let me check it out!"

I was pretty disappointed! For Best TV Movie, Best Player (36%) and The Suite Life Movie(29%) beat out Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster (22%).

The Looney Tunes Show (46%) beat out Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated (35%). That was the biggest disappointment! I loved the original Looney Tunes, but the new show just isn't loving up to the original and I haven't been able to watch it for long periods of time.

Grey DeLisle in T.U.F.F. Puppy (36%) and Chelsea Kane in Fish Hooks (28%) beat out Mindy Cohn in Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated (25%) for Best Voice Actress in an Animated Series.

I know these awards mean nothing, they are just for fun. It would have been nice for Scooby to win something. Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated is a great series and it just hasn't gotten the attention it deserves!

  • Blue falcon & dynamutt will make an appearance in season 2 mystery Inc, as well as the Johnny Quest team.
  • Original voice actor of Johnny Quest will voice "brad"(fred real dad/original mystery Inc member) in season 2
  • If season 2 of mystery Inc popular enough (ratings), they have a plan for season 3. No guarantees yet.
  • No date for season 2 of mystery Inc. To start, but assume it's "soon" And that ends the panel

WARNER BROS. BOOTH WILL GET FAMILY DAY “TOON UP”
COURTESY OF CARTOON NETWORK
SUNDAY, JULY 24 AT COMIC-CON 2011

Sunday is family day at Comic-Con, and this year for the first time, Warner Bros. Entertainment will partner with Time Warner sister company Cartoon Network on a daylong “booth takeover” initiative. On Sunday, July 24, at Comic-Con International: San Diego, the Warner Bros. booth — with its distinctive 30-foot tall replica of the iconic Warner Bros. water tower — will transform overnight into the Cartoon Network booth to create a fun, family friendly environment designed just for kids.

In celebration of family day, Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. will present a day’s worth of kid-friendly events at the booth, including:

  • Signings by stars and creators from “Regular Show,” “Adventure Time,” “The Looney Tunes Show,” “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated” and “Young Justice”
  • The return of last year’s smash success kids’ Dance Party, featuring costumed characters like Scooby-Doo and Bugs Bunny. For 2011, dance party revelers will show off their hottest moves on a custom-made Liquid Fusion floor, allowing them to walk on water! (Figuratively, of course.)
  • Live demonstrations by cartoonists and other artists, including iconic “MAD” illustrator Sergio Aragones
  • One-of-a-kind giveaways and premiums from Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. Animation, including the live giveaway of the Tweety car
  • and more!!

Thirty-five workers will work over 500 combined hours to engineer a Cartoon Network rebrand of the 3,600-square-foot Warner Bros. booth, literally overnight, hanging all-new banners and booth signage to create an all-new environment.
